Bio:
I am a photographer based in Pendle, on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border, where I have lived for over ten years.
I have been taking pictures for half a century. First with a Brownie 126, then with various other cameras until I got my first ‘Proper’ SLR from a friend at university. Since then I have shot for friends’ weddings, portraits and many other projects, as well as for myself. I learned film, darkroom and studio along the way, then in the 21st century, digital and post-processing. After serving for more than 26 years in the Royal Air Force, I now have more time to spend on photography, and I shoot almost everything from 35mm up to 10x8 inch large format and I am lucky to still have access to a darkroom. I have run several camera clubs, darkrooms and studios, have been published and awarded internationally, and run several courses teaching various aspects of photography. I believe in education and in passing on knowledge, and as President of our local camera club, I enjoy the opportunities of seeing less experienced photographers realise their photographic goals.
Gear:
I primarily use Fujifilm digital cameras and lenses for everyday work, but I also use Leica and Nikon digital and film cameras. I have various different medium format Mamiya cameras, along with MPP and Intrepid 5x4 and 10x8 inch large format equipment. Tripods are Manfrotto, K&F Concept and Mefoto, and filters are Nisi and K&F Concept. The kit is usually carried in Shimoda, Billingham or Crumpler bags.
